QR code help
Why did my dynamic QR code stop working?
A dynamic code stops working when the code was switched off or deleted, the short link was mistyped, a custom domain stopped pointing to the service, or the destination page went down. What the visitor sees tells you which one it is.
Common causes
- The code is inactive or deleted.
- The printed short link has a typo.
- A custom domain's DNS changed or lapsed.
- The destination page is down, moved or private.
- Too many scans from one connection were rate limited, or the service had a brief outage.
How to fix it
- Scan it and read the message. This code is currently inactive means it was switched off. Code not found means the link is wrong or no longer available.
- If it is inactive, open the workspace and set it back to active, if you have permission.
- If you see a temporary-problem message, wait a moment and retry. Too many requests means pausing a minute.
- If you use a custom domain, check its DNS records and renewal.
- If the code loads the destination but the page fails, fix the destination itself.
- A paid term ending does not switch existing active links off. Check status and ownership instead.
How to prevent it
Keep a register of printed codes, an owner for each, and renew any domain you use.
