QR code help
Why does my app download QR code open the wrong store?
App links route by the device that scans. Tablets, desktops and unusual browsers may not match iPhone or Android, and a wrong or regional store link sends people to the wrong place. Use public store URLs and a helpful fallback page.
Common causes
- A store URL is wrong or points to a developer page.
- The device was not recognised as iPhone or Android.
- The app is not available in the visitor's country.
- A desktop camera opened the link.
How to fix it
- Check the App Store and Google Play links in a browser.
- Set a fallback page that explains the app and lists both stores.
- Test on iPhone, Android, tablet and desktop.
- State regional availability on the fallback page.
How to prevent it
Retest after each app release or listing change.
Frequently asked questions
Can one code serve both stores?
Yes. A managed app-link code routes by device and uses a fallback for others.
Is routing guaranteed?
No. Treat it as a convenience and keep a fallback.
