QR code help
Why won't my contact QR code save the contact to the phone?
Phones import contact cards differently. A card with too much data, a phone number without a country code, or unusual characters may not import cleanly. Keep fields minimal, use the international phone format, and test on both iPhone and Android.
Common causes
- The card contains too many fields, which makes the code dense.
- The phone number lacks a country code.
- Accented or non-Latin characters were not encoded well.
- The phone's contacts app handles the field differently.
How to fix it
- Keep only name, role, one phone number and one email.
- Write the number in international format, for example +91 followed by the number.
- Test importing on an iPhone and an Android phone.
- If the card is large, link to a page with a save-contact button instead.
- Print the details next to the code.
How to prevent it
Decide whether the card represents a person or a team before choosing the phone and email.
Frequently asked questions
Can I update a card after printing?
With a managed code, yes. Already saved copies on people's phones do not change.
Is a contact code private?
Anyone who scans can read it, so share only what you are happy to hand out.
