QR code help
Why is my UPI QR code not working?
A UPI QR code carries a payee address, name and optional amount. It fails to start a payment when the address has a typo, the app cannot read the request, the amount is invalid, or your bank or app blocks the transaction. A generator cannot raise limits or confirm a payment.
Common causes
- The UPI address (VPA) has a typo.
- The name or amount format is invalid.
- The payer's app or bank does not support the request.
- The payer's bank or app has set a limit, or the transaction was declined.
- The code was scanned from a low-quality image or screenshot.
How to fix it
- Copy your exact UPI address from your bank or payment app.
- Scan with several UPI apps and check that the displayed recipient is correct.
- Leave the amount blank if customers choose it, or enter a valid rupee amount.
- Print as a plain, high-contrast code, and print at actual size.
- If a payment fails after the recipient looks correct, the cause is usually on the bank or app side. Check the app's message.
- For business use, ask your bank or payment provider whether a merchant-registered QR is required.
How to prevent it
Verify every received payment in your bank or merchant app before releasing goods.
